More about Pickle Pro Courts

When cold weather cut outdoor pickleball play short in nearby Waunakee, owner Patrick Riha decided Madison needed a place to play indoors, all year long.

That place became Pickle Pro Courts, a 14,000-square-foot facility in Northside TownCenter with five dedicated indoor courts, eight-foot divider nets, bright overhead lighting, and  large TVs. After a soft opening that spring, the club held its grand opening in August 2022.

From the start, Patrick had a clear operating model in mind. "We started from day one with CourtReserve because we wanted a fully autonomous club," he says. That meant two things had to work without anyone on site: court reservations and remote door access. CourtReserve's online booking and RemoteLock integration connected the two.

As Pickle Pro Courts refined its 24/7 model, no-shows presented a challenge. Without someone at the front desk, the club needed a way to track who arrived for their reservations. The solution was a CourtReserve-powered check-in kiosk, allowing players to scan themselves in while giving the club a record of attendance.

Today, the player experience at Pickle Pro Courts is entirely self-service, beginning before players even arrive. After registering through CourtReserve, signing a waiver, and adding a card on file, they can reserve a court and receive a door PIN by email.

Once they arrive, players enter through the keypad, turn on the lights, and check themselves in. "People can reserve online themselves, access the club without assistance, scan in without assistance, play, then leave," Patrick explains. For Pickle Pro Courts, that means welcoming players 24/7 without the expense of a staffed front desk.

Pickle Pro Courts continues finding ways to make the experience easier for new players. A Voice AI assistant helps with sign-up and door-code questions, while CourtReserve's Public Booking lets visitors reserve courts without creating an account.

Since opening in 2022, Pickle Pro Courts has grown from zero to nearly 9,000 players, all while operating five indoor courts without a traditional front desk. For Patrick, that success reinforces the decision to build the club around CourtReserve from the beginning.

As the club's needs continue to evolve, CourtReserve remains central to its daily operations. "We would not run a club without CourtReserve," he says.

As Pickle Pro Courts looks ahead, the focus remains on making year-round pickleball accessible to its growing community. The club continues refining how it operates and exploring new ways to make the experience better for every player who walks through its doors.
